AF
Normal AF compared with Live View
The free test checks whether normal autofocus shows a repeatable performance difference relative to Live View under controlled conditions.
TEST PROCESS

Each stage is designed to reduce setup variation before a result is calculated.
Capture the image sets
Follow a defined sequence using normal autofocus and Live View autofocus, refocusing between captures.
Analyse the measurements
Sharpness, repeatability and test-quality measurements are calculated locally in the browser. Test images are not uploaded.
Review the result
The evidence is compared to determine whether a repeatable performance difference exists and whether further investigation is justified.
METHOD
Evidence first.
Repeatability matters. A single sharp or soft image is not sufficient to characterise lens performance.
Uncertainty is reported. Where the data is inconsistent or insufficient, the result remains inconclusive rather than forcing a conclusion.
Screening and calibration are separate. The free test identifies whether deeper investigation is justified. It does not infer an AFMA setting from a single AF versus Live View comparison.
